Does Participatory Design have a role in software package development?

Abstract

For Participatory Design (PD) the domain of packaged software development presents a challenge. PD evolved -and is largely practiced -- in an environment that producescustom systems for corporations and governments. Package developers are still in the early stages of using PD approaches. The panelists will discuss the opportunities and obstacles for PD use in packaged software development, as well as some early experiences at major companies.
