PictureCARD: A Storytelling Tool for Task Analysis

Abstract

TIlls paper discusses the evolution of a CARD-based interactive research tool developed to incorporate cross-cultural users in the process of building a representation of work. The technique is highly visual and interactive and does not depend on capturing information textually, or on ethnographic investigatory techniques. We discuss the context in which the tool was developed and its use in a field study in rural India, as well as the kind of data which was gathered and lessons we learned.
